More than 17 years ago, as we worked to identify the needs in our community and build programs to address them, we often dreamed of one day helping our participants attend college. At the time, that dream felt distant. There were so many barriers to overcome. From the uncertainty of whether it was even possible, to navigating the complex application processes, understanding the financial challenges, and the unique struggles of being the first in your family to attend college, the road ahead seemed overwhelming.

But we believed in the potential of our participants. And we were determined to help them succeed.

In 2019, that vision began to take shape as the Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Award and other generous donors allowed us to start a scholarship fund. FPR has provided 47 scholarships, totaling over $223,000, to deserving participants. Each scholarship has been more than just financial support; it’s been a lifeline, a vote of confidence, and a step toward a brighter future.

Today, as we watch the next generation of FPR participants take their own steps toward higher education, we see a profound shift. The obstacles that once seemed insurmountable are no longer as daunting because they can see the path paved by those who came before them. When they see Patrick, Sam, Cris, Lali, and Divine succeed, they believe they can too. These alumni are not just recipients of scholarships; they are mentors, role models, and living proof that college is within reach. Our alumni are thriving in ways we could only hope for when we first started this journey. They are not only achieving academic success, but also giving back to their communities, lifting up the next generation of students, and proving that no dream is too big.

The impact of these scholarships is far-reaching. It’s not just about getting into college—it’s about creating a cycle of success that ripples through families and communities for years to come.
