ALUMNI

Earlier this year, Jamarcus, a former FPR participant who was in our programs for a brief time before his family moved, reached out on Facebook in hopes of connecting with us again.

“Good morning, not sure if you remember me because it was over 10 years ago. I used to come to the community center (FPR) after school and just hang out. I loved when we’d watch movies or read….

I just wanted to let you know that I changed my life around and wanted to thank you and the rest of the staff for changing and saving my life. What y’all did for me really stuck with me over the years! Now I’m a navy sailor just trying to change lives like you do.”

Jamarcus’s message is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. It's not always about the big, flashy moments, but the quiet, consistent presence that leaves a lasting impression. It’s about showing up for others, offering a safe space, and providing support when it's needed most — even when we don’t know the full impact we’re having at the time.

To everyone who has been part of this journey — past, present, and future — thank you.
